Action in our community

Al-Nasr is a small independent organisation which since it was established in 1992 and despite limited resources has pro-actively assisted ethnic communities in Slough on a wide range of issues including debt/financial problems, drug/alcohol abuse, domestic violence/forced marriages, extremism, young offenders training and family disputes.

Al-Nasr not only responds to critical individual cases it looks deeper into how these problems become prominent within a community and attempts to provide longer term strategies to educate the community on how to avoid these problems in future. It has a policy of “thinking out of the box” but does not take a distant over view on how to deal with problems, it’s culture is to work with clients and the community so everyone involved has a full understanding of how these problems originate as it believes unless you understand the root of the problem it is difficult to find permanent long term solutions.

It has now established a Domestic Violence/Forced Marriage Unit, which responds to critical cases but which also has a longer term strategy of educating ethnic women and men to attempt to break the cycle of abuse altogether.

At the personal expense of the Trustees it has recently established an office in Lahore, Pakistan dedicated to eradicating abuse of young runaway children, you can find out more information about this project on the following link http://www.al-nasr.pk

Al-Nasr is an independent grass roots organisation and has no affiliation with any large international or national organisation however it is keen to work in partnerships with any organisation dedicated to assisting communities including statutory bodies when it’s assistance is requested.
